Special Visitor, Special Gift
We had a special visit the other day. Four-year- old Jayne brought over forty colorful, soft blankets for kids in our orphanage in Pune, India. Jayne’s older brother and sister have made a practice of celebrating their birthdays by asking their friends to bring gifts for poor children and now Jayne is following in their footsteps. It’s a wonderful thing when children in the U.S. realize how blessed they are every day and decide to celebrate one of their most special days, their birthday, by remembering kids who have very little. It’s surely an inspiration for all of us. Thanks, Jayne!

Brief Report on my Visit to Kandhamal, Orissa-India BY: FR. RITCHIE VAZ SVD
At my visit to Kandhamal together with Archbishop Raphael Cheenath SVD, I was shocked to see the total and diabolic destruction of the churches, convents, seminaries, presbyteries, service centers and health facilities in six locations. In all 8 churches, 50 village churches, 5 convents, 5 presbyteries, 4 hostels are totally destroyed and devastated. They have desecrated the church by destroying all the statues, bibles and every religious article.

Nearly 400 people attended the Mission Sunday Mass. Fr. Melvin James SVD, who works with Mother Antonia at the Tijuana prison, presided at the Mass. After communion, Mother Antonia spoke to the congregation about her ministry.
